Cards Featuring Sue Wilson's CED3078 Snowflake Filigree Frame

Friday, August 19, 2016
Well, Card Designer Joan Morrison really did a great job showing different ways to use Sue Wilson's die CED3078 Snowflake Filigree Frame and coordinating UMS734 Cozy Cottage Stamp, and all of them beautiful.

This first card utilizes all 4 dies of the CED3078
Snowflake Filigree Frame set.  Joan used the inner
decorative die without the outer cutting edge and cut
it directly into the cardstock twice side by side and then
backed it with red glitter paper for the background.  She
then used both the outer cutting die and the inner decorative
die, cut it out of white cardstock and mounted it sideways.
Then a solid red glitter background topped with the inner
decorative pieces of the die cut in white. What a stunning
contrast!  The finishing touch is the beautiful tag from the
CED3019 Snowflake Corner, Border, and Tag from the
2015 Festive Collection.

This card uses only the outer cutting die of the Snowflake
Filigree Frame and cuts an aperture right into the cardstock
panel.  Underneath the full image of the coordinating stamp
UMS734 Cozy Cottage was stamped on a separate panel.
Stickles was applied to the stamped image to add a little
shimmer.  The cut out panel was then mounted on top
with foam for dimension.  Extra glittered snowflakes were
added as well as the PoppyStamp 1545 Prancing Deer.

These two cards are basically the same just on two
different backgrounds. The red cardstock is embossed
with the lovely Contemporary Poinsettia Embossing
Folder EF055, which is quickly becoming a favorite
of mine.  Both cards feature the Snowflake Filigree
Frame backed with silver glitter paper and also the
UMS734 Cozy Cottage stamp, but this time only the
inner cottage image cut out with the solid oval die.
Of course the stamped image could be colored in, but
just a bit of stickles or clear glitter is fine.  The simple
cottage scene just makes such a pretty Christmas card.

This shaped card was made very easily using the hinge
technique.  You fold your cardstock with the fold at the
top.  Then place the outer cutting die from the
Snowflake Filigree Frame with the top of the die just
past the top of the fold.  That way, when you cut it, the
cardstock is still attached at the top fold and creates a
card that can be opened up.  Then cut another complete
one using the outer cutting die out of silver glitter paper.
Then using both the outer cutting die and the inner
decorative die, cut a white frame. Once assembled
on top of each other, that can be glued on top of the
shaped card.  *Remember not to apply adhesive to
the very top, because this is going to stick just a little
over the top of your base/shaped card.
