Thank you Grace for being our guest designer for the next two weeks.

My name is Grace Nywening and my wonderful hubby and I recently celebrated our 40th anniversary! We live in NC with our fat cat, Ricky. He runs the house, we just do his bidding! LOL! I'm a mother and grandmother, and I thank God for His many blessings in my life!

I have been a crafter all my life, but when I found paper crafts I really was hooked! I love making cards, especially those with Scriptures and uplifting messages. While I love doing altered art and even a little scrapbooking, my real love continues to be cards. There are so many ways cards can be a blessing to others, and I love that about this craft!

I was thrilled and honored to be asked by Joan to be a guest designer. I hope you enjoy this fun and easy project I have for you today. I have made several of these and always get requests for a tutorial, so this is the day! You will LOVE how easy these are to make, and with gift giving season getting closer and closer... this might come in handy for all the holidays which will be rapidly upon us! Enjoy!

Enter a project, similar to Graces. using techniques used in her tutorial. Your project does not have to look exactly like hers ,we just want you to use her techniques and create something similar. Make it your own, but use the techniques Grace teaches in her post.

You will have 2 weeks from today, Thursday (August 11th ) morning 6:00 AM EST to link your project. You will be eligible to win a prize. Thursday morning Selma and I will be reviewing each entry and select a winner. Our criteria will be whether or not the techniques were used in the tutorial and the overall appearance of the project. The winner will be announced Friday morning (Augut 12th). You can enter more than once. The winner will also be entered in the end of the year $100 gift certificate from Joan's Gardens.

1.You must post to your blog or post to the SCS gallery.

First I stamped the Laughing Parrot by La Blanche stamps onto their fabulous paper and then I used Distressed Ink and Nibs to color the Parrot and the leaves. (what a great way to color) Next Tim Holtz Bird Cage was cut out of Grunge paper with my Vagabond and inked with Distressed Inks. After that dried, I cut open the door and applied a lacy looking corner embellishment to the top. The parrot was embossed with Utee Melt Art Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel. Both the bird cage and the Parrot were popped up using Therm O Web Dimensions.

The Designer Paper is from Chapter One Paper Pad by Kaiser Craft. The edges were distressed and inked with some Distressed inks to give it an aged look. After embossing some pink card stock with the Kassie Cuttlebug folder I used Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers dies to cut 6 of the smallest flowers. Using my Tool kit, I conditioned them by using the White conditioning tool and then I bent and shaped them. 6 small suns were punched out with the Sun Punch by Punch a Bunch and shaped for the Stamens. The Cheery Lynn Fern dies were cut from some Designer Paper as was the Fanciful Flourish. Each of those were applied to the card and the flowers placed on them. The sentiment is by Wendy Vecchi.
