This Week's Guest Designer

Hi! I’m Darlene Pavlick (akronstamperdpk) and I live in Akron, Ohio. Husband, Mark & I are originally from Pittsburgh, PA and that is where our families reside. We have one daughter who is married with two teenage children and her own accounting business. She is the one who got me started in paper crafting about 8 years ago. She was selling Creative Memories and her friend Mindy (a fellow scrapper) was selling Stampin’ Up … to make a long story short, that’s where it all began and I’ve been paper crafting every day since. It is my passion and mental therapy! I’ve been blessed to meet SO MANY wonderful ladies around the world, many have become personal friends and I’m not done yet!

I’m so thrilled to have been asked to be one of the Summer Guest Designer’s for Joan’s Gardens … thanks Joan and Selma for this wonderful opportunity! I hope you all enjoy what I have to share with you today. And by all means … give it a try!

Projects made at June 2011 workshop

     Dahlia punch was used for this flower

 Selma and I designed this tablet using the Lilly Punch to make this flower. The Garden Branch and Embossing Swirl by Marianne added some dimension to the card. The pair of Ferns is a great final touch.

Please notice that the tablet leaves are different than on the flower above.  We will also be showing you how we do that later.

 I taught the gals how to use the new Mica products using a Brayer on glossing card stock.  Cheery Lynn's
Flourish, Mini Butterfly that was glitter (Selma plans to teach this later) and the Swirl Marianne Embossing Folder was also used.              

This flower was made with Tim Holtz Tattered Flower die, Coordination's paper and then

spritz with water and "scrunched" up in a ball.

Saturday and Sunday is our next workshop, so I have been working hard getting ready for it.  I have a couple extra seats open as 3 can't attend because of health reasons.  So, if you can arrange to come give me a call at 574 656 3663.

 Good news (I think).  My new video camera finally arrived today. (It has been on order since the first of May).  My goal is to do some classes for you showing some of the techniques we use making flowers etc.  Of course the book is over 1 inch thick, so it might be a while before I learn how to use the camera. (smile)

Phyllis's card

From time to time this summer I will be featuring some of my customers cards who have purchased products from me.  Today I am happy to feature a card from Phyllis who lives in Arizona.  Phyllis recently had major back surgery, but as you can see, she is recuperating nicely.  Phyllis and her Mother Ruth love to able to spend time together making cards and I appreciate their business very much.

She loved Selma's card and decided to CASE it the best she could. This is the first rose that she has made. Isn't it beautiful?  Congratulations Phyllis on a job well done.

 I will be featuring a card created by my customers every once in a while, so if you have a card you are very proud of send it to me for possible publication.  I can't guarantee every one's cards will be shown, but I sure do love seeing them.

Great Tip: The Border dies comes packaged on a piece of cardboard and I have a little secret for you... if you go ahead and leave the die attached to the cardboard and then add a Cuttlehug to your stack as well... it will cut like BUTTER... seriously all those little pieces from the intricate details will simply fall out when you pull the die from the paper.

Each Angel Wing has a butterfly mate. These dies are used to cut an exact shape of a full size die cut butterfly related to each die by number.
