Pretty and Pink Card

One of my very good friend's 7 year old grandson was killed last week in a go-cart accident.  My heart aches for she and her family.  I attended the viewing on Saturday and it was so sad.  I just can't imagine what they are going through at this time.  I have made a card to send to her and I wanted to share it with you.

My friend is a wonderful flower gardener, so I wanted to add some pretty flowers to her card.

First I embossed white Vellum with the Marianne Romantic Embossing Folder. Isn't it pretty on the vellum? I just love this look.

Next I used a Petite Oval Spellbinder die and cut the center out of the Embossed Vellum so that I could stamp a sentiment inside the card. I chose Cherish Memories from JustRite because my friend told me at the viewing that they would always cherish the memories,

Martha Stewart's Double Arch punch we used for the left side border and applied to pink card stock. A very think strip of pink stripe paper was attached on to the edge to give it a finished look. Then the white Vellum was laid on top of the pink card stock and attached in spots with Glossy Accents Glue.

Next a piece of pink card stock was embossed using the Cuttlebug Embossing folders after I inked one side with Distressed Ink. This gave some color and action to the border which was placed on the outside of the oval cutout.

Fanciful Flourish by Cheery Lynn was cut also from the pink embossed card stock and Cherry Blossoms were cut with the new Cheery Lynn dies. The medium Sky flake punches were punch 6 times, colored and inserted in to the center of the flowers. You can read how to do this on Selma' blog.

Corners were cut to cover the spots of glue and snow white pearls were placed on top of them for more interest and "class"
