Card for Joan's Gardens #21 Weekly Challenge

Thursday, October 28, 2010
JustRite's Vintage Christmas stamps are just beautiful and I love the Old World Santa.  He was placed on Tim Holtz Rosette for added interested. The Sizzix Branch die was embossed and then cut out.

Anna Griffin's Paper 5x7 pad was cut and glued together to fit on a 6x6 card.  It was then bordered and applied to a piece of Neenah 6x6 Paper.  Martha Stewart's Modern Garland Edger Punch covered the splice and I liked it as a background for the trees.  I stamped the sentiment form the Christmas  Nested Sentiments and cut and embossed with the Tag Nestie by Spellbinders.

I made the pine cones out of a new punch that I am excited to introduce to you today.
A few weeks ago, some new customers came to the shop and brought a gorgeous book with all kinds of paper flowers in it.  The flowers are all made with punches.  I was asked if I knew where they could get them.  I started doing some research and I am happy to announce I have found them and will be making them available to you by special order.

Selma has prepared a wonderful tutorial for you to see how we are making the Pine Cones.
Shown below are the products used.  Also be sure to take a look at her beautiful cards and leave a comment.  Selma is celebrating her soon to be 150,000 hits on her blog and is giving away lots of goodies as well as two $25.00 gift certificates.  One from Selma and one from Joan's Gardens.  Don't miss out!!!  Of  course, I always welcome your comments too.
They mean so much and I truly appreciate them!!!!!

If you would like to order the punches, or other items, please e-mail me . I do have a few in stock, but mostly they will be a special order item.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you are able to play in this week's Challenge.

Annual Harvest Party 2010 Pictures

Wednesday, October 27, 2010
We had a beautiful evening for carving pumpkins and eating a delicious supper at my daughter"s.  This year we had it in Kara's garage to make it easier to take Mom.
After the Pumpkins were carved, I was able to get all the little ones to sit a few minutes for a group picture.
We are so blessed with so many little ones to love and enjoy.
Carving in action.  The pumpkins were so tough that we had to end up using a saber saw to cut a hole to get them started.  We think that was due to the very dry summer weather.  But it worked great and everyone completed their designs.  We had a butter fly, a dragon, and some scary looking faces.
I couldn't believe I failed to get a picture of the finished pumpkins.
Mom was certainly enjoying all the activity.

Kara and Mazelee...what beauties!

Kelsey and Beckon - how adorable!

Kara and Kelsey are our Granddaughters and have been such a joy to me over these years.
And, the joy continues with all the little ones.  I am truly a blessed woman!!!

Sunday, October 24, 2010
I will be adding more items to my sale in the morning.  We are leaving for Michigan in a few minutes for our Annual Harvest Party at my daughters.  I spent too much time on my card to get everthing done (smile).

I made the rose and leaves out of the same paper and I love how they turned out.  I will be showing you some new products in the next couples days that will tell you how I made my rose.  Oh how much fun.  Selma has been hinting about them on her site with the flowers and pine cones she has made.

Products used on this card are are from Joan's Gardens.

Card for Joan's Gardens #20 Challenge

Thursday, October 21, 2010
I have never done much of the distressed look for my cards, but I am certainly enjoying it.  Zutter's Distresser machine did all the distressing on each layer of the card.  What a fabulous job it does.

Tim Holtz's Branch Embossing Die was used for the tree.  Notice how deep it embosses.  The tree was then sponged with Walnut Distressed Ink.  Elegant Words were stamped on the right side of the tree and spritzed with Perfect Pearls Violet Mists to the point it bled.  After allowing it to dry, the Cuttlebug pumpkin embossing folder was used on top of the words.  All edges were sponged with Tim's Ink blender and Distressed Walnut Stain.

Another new tool was used to make the Rosette.  Tim's Rosette Die.  How fun and so many possibilities.
The Pumpkins were stamped using Heartfelt Creations Stamps and Spellbinders Pumpkin Dies.  Making Memories Embellishments were added to finish off the card.

We worked very late last night finishing up most of the Glue Glider orders, so I did not have a chance to make a new card.  The items used on this card fit just what I wanted to do for this week's challenge, so I decided to use it.

By all means take a look at Selma's card she created for the challenge.  It is so awesome!!!!!!

Glue Gliders are starting to ship

Tuesday, October 19, 2010
We have started to ship the Glue Glider orders.  Below is how this will work:

1. The orders are packaged.
2. The shipping labels are printed to determine the shipping cost.
3. The shipping totals are added to the invoices that I have already posted.
4. Once these things are posted to your invoice, you will be emailed a copy of the invoice so you can check it over and make sure I have understood your order.  If there are any corrections, please email me right away.  Please print the invoice for your records, as it will not be included in your order.
5. Once all the invoices are done, I will send out the PayPal request and charge the credit cards.  This takes time because of the amount of orders, so please be patient.  I promise, I won't forget to bill you! (smile)
If you are paying by credit card, your account will be charge the amount on the invoice.

So, don't worry if you don't receive the invoice or PayPal request right away, I do everything in steps so that I don't have to keep jumping from screen to screen.  This way saves lots of time.

I thought it might be helpful to you if I explained the procedure to you.  I appreciate your patience and thank you so very much for you business.  You all are great and a pleasure to work with!!!!

Here is what my shipping area looks like today.

You can stamp on it, color it,  and cut it with the dies.  Lots of fun things.

Workshop Pictures and cards

Sunday, October 17, 2010
We had a beautiful day for the October Workshop.  It was cool in the morning, but in the afternoon, we were able to open the doors.  Sixteen ladies attended and I think everyone had a great time.

Emma Lou from HeartFelt Creations taught everyone  to make a Christmas card and a Christmas Tree Ornament. (shown below)  The gals learned several new techniques and had lots a fun.

I have learned that crafters are wonderful cooks.  The food was absolutely delicious and everyone ate well.

After lunch, it was my turn. I showed the girls how to make two cards using new techniques that I have recently learned. (shown below)

Joan's Gardens #18 Challenge Card

Thursday, October 7, 2010
A few gals have had to cancel their workshop reservations for next week's workshop, so if you are interested in attending please email me at jfricker@fourway.net
Emma Lou from Heartfelt Creations will be here, so you will love it if it is possible for you to attend.  You can read the details here:

This week's challenge was so much fun to create.  I wanted to try a new technique (for me) layering the Daisy Die and stamps from Heartfelt Creations.  I stamped and cut two of each sizes of the daisies on the yellow/gold cardstock that I had in my stash.

Each petal was curled with a Molding tool (I purchased from Australia), but you can use a thin pencil.  It was then covered with DG3 Art Gel and dried with a heat gun. You can work on forming the pedals again after it is fairly dry. The Art Gel is a new product that will be in the store as soon as my order arrives this week and is wonderful for adding dimension, shine and body to card stock.  Selma has also used it in several of her projects and we both just love it.  Each size was layered and off set from the layer beneath it.  The middle was finished off with flower soft and glitter.

Don't you just love the new Lacey Square dies by Spellbinders?  All of the Lacey dies are on back order right now until November, but I can't wait for them to arrive because I want them all. (smile)  The paper strip and background is from one of the Webster Paper Packs and I cut a strip out to accent the Daisy Flower.

Label 4 was used for the Heartfelt Creation Sentiment and part of a Zva Swirl gave the card just the right finishing touch.

I can't wait until Sunday as I will be introducing several NEW things!

Joan's Gardens
