Easter Card with the Crosses

Wednesday, March 31, 2010
This Easter Card doesn't have any stamping except for the sentiment on the inside.  It is done primarily with lots of layers.  The card is made using all Neenah Cream Card stock which gives it an elegant look.
The base of the card is a 6x5.5.  Another piece of card stock was cut at 5.5x5 allowing for a 1/4 inch on all sides.  I used an 18 kt. Krylon Gold Leafing Pen along all the edges of the different layers to enhance the elegance. The corners were punched with SU Ticket Punch.

The next layers was a 5x5 and the Martha Stewart Double Loop Corner and Border Punches were used to created the nice border all the around the piece of paper.  Next I cut a piece of paper 4 inch square, used the Krylon Pen and SU Ticket Punch on it.  The next piece is 3.75 square and I did the exact same thing.

Using Spellbinders new Lotus Pendant, a piece was cut and then embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and the Krylon Pen were used on the outer edges.  The next step was to cut all 3 Crosses from Spellbinders newest Cross Die Set.  Every layer was popped up with the Therm-O-Web Dimensionals and a Kaiser Champaign Pearl was added to the center.

A friend sent me a picture of something similar posted over at Split Coasters Gallery.  Therefore, the idea is
not completely original, but I changed many things which made it my own.

I hope each of you enjoy the celebration of the resurrection of Christ. What a day to rejoice!

New Card - Sarah Kay and Monday's Sale

Sunday, March 28, 2010

Sarah Kay stamps are so cute.  I just placed an order for all of her new stamps and hopefully they will be in soon.

Basic Grey's Green at Heart Paper Pad was used for all the papers on this card.  I used a Spellbinders Big Scalloped Petites Border Die to cut the two layers of borders on the bottom.  The green lace ribbon is the Green At Heart Self-Adhesive Ribbon Doilies shown below.  Isn't it cool?

I stamped the Sarah Kay image, colored it with my Copic markers.  Then I stamped another image and cut it out, making a mask for the one I had just colored.  Using my Copic Air-Brush system I sprayed the sky blue.  Labels 10 were used to cut out the green background and then a smaller die from Labels 10 cut and embossed the stamped image.

The flower is from the Green At Heart Bloomers Self-Adhesive Fabric Flowers. I just love them for this kind of card.  I saw this Ribbon at May Arts and thought it was be cute for spring and I was right.  I have used it on my last two cards and I just love it.  What do you think?

Most of the things used on this card are shown below on my Sunday feature!  Please e-mail me if you would like to purchase any of them.

For Stamps without Foam
$4.50 Each

Allows you to make any rubber stamp into an EZMount stamp that clings perfectly to an acrylic block. No sticky mess and never wears out. Gift Card

Saturday, March 27, 2010
Sisters are so special!   One of my customers asked me to send a Gift Certificate to her Sister for her birthday.  I couldn't just send a piece of paper and so this is the gift card I made for the certificate.

The roses are from the 8x8 La Romatique paper pad by Graphic 45.  The back side of the paper had a bride on it, so I lined the paper with a coordinating color.  A border was cut out of another sheet in the same collection and attached at the bottom to overlap the top. , I stamp  the Happy Birthday stamp from JustRite's Just A Note Stamp Set and cut it out using the Blossom Nestie.  The border was stamped on a separate sheet and cut out with a larger Circle Nestie. Both were popped up with the Therm-O-Web Dimensional.  A silk bow gave it the finish touch.

This is the inside of the gift card.  I used Score-Pal Scoring Tape to attach the sides, making a pocket to insert the Gift Certificate.  I didn't notice until I was posting this picture that my adhesive square is crooked.  bummer!!!  I have on order some circle Velcro dots for the next gift card I make.  I think it will work better.

Spring is on it's way! (Pictures)

Friday, March 26, 2010
They say it is spring in Indiana, but it was 20 degrees this morning.  We have been having some very nice weather the last 3 weeks though, so I certainly am not complaining because it is Spring in my house.
Last weekend Jon cut off some stems of my Forsythia bush and I put them in some water and forced bloomed them.   I now have the prettiest bouquet on my kitchen table.  I have enjoyed my spring flowers so much and it certainly lifts my spirits on a cold morning.  The flowers have lasted all week too.  Tomorrow I am cutting off more stems for Mom and for myself for another week of enjoyment.  Jon is trimming the apple trees tomorrow, so I am going to see if I can get Apple Blossoms to bloom.  Does anyone know if this works?
I love pretty placemats and napkins.  Jon got these for me for Christmas.
(of course I had a friend tell him I wanted them)

Aren't they beautiful?  I wish my photography was as beautiful as my flowers.

I am redecorating and I thought you might enjoy seeing what I have been doing.  I still have to find a word for under the clock. I would like to find the word BLESSED, so I need to go shopping.
I absolutely love my new Rooster picture and it goes so nice with my new wallpaper border.

Isn't this the cutest little chicken you have ever seen?  I found it last week at my favorite decorating shop, and I just couldn't resist.  Every time I wall by him, I think he will peep.

This is my new wall paper border.  We have a big old farm house and it looks perfect in my kitchen.  Our new counter top, sink and stove have to be installed yet, but I already love my new kitchen.

A Card for Spring

Thursday, March 25, 2010
This was a fun card to do.  I love the bright colors from Cosmo Crickett's new Material Girl and I decided that my new My Little Lamb Stamp by Penny Johnson would be a perfect fit.

Using the Martha Stewart Score Board, the papers were cut at an angle, glued together and lace was added  to cover up the splices.

The 3 buttons are from the Garden Variety Button collection.  Cosmo Crickett did a great job using many of the same colors in the Garden Variety Collection as is in the Material Girl Collection.

Next the image was stamped using Memento Ink and colored with Copic Markers. I am testing some 120# weight of Super Fine Card Stock to see if I like it for using the Copics.  So far, I am extremely pleased and will possibly be carrying it in my store very soon.  One of the nice things about the 120# paper is it does not bleed through the back of your card and does not use near as much of the Copic ink.

I stamped another image on white Neenah paper (80#) and cut it out.  Using the Glue Glider Repositional Tape (it is only to reposition and will not hold a card together) I place it on top of my colored image and sprayed the background with my Copic pale blue marker using the Air Brush System.  It is hard to see, but I am just learning to use the airbrush and I didn't want it to get too dark and ruin my coloring.  I can tell that I am really going to enjoy this new "toy".

The image was cut out using the Spellbinders Label 13, edges were sponged to give a better contrast. I tried to fix a boo-boo and made a big mess, so that is why you see the cute little butterfly fluttering around.  Would you have known if I hadn't told you?  Or did you think I added it for interest????

A silk bow from May Arts was tied using the Bow Easy and attached with Aileen's Tacky Glue.  The image was popped using Therm-O-Web Dimensionals.

Exciting News!!

Wednesday, March 24, 2010
I am so excited to announce that on May 15th, Selma Stevenson, of Deer Park, Washington will be flying in to do a workshop at Joan's Gardens. She was a SU demonstrator for over 10 years and continues to be very creative since her retirement. I have asked Selma to demonstrate some new techniques and I am very excited for you to see the beautiful projects you will be creating. I told a few people about this workshop and the word has spread like wildfire. The seating space in my craft workroom filled up immediately. I still have others wanting to attend. Since Selma is coming so far and I hate to turn anyone way, I am opening up reservations for the overflow room. This means everyone will gather around to watch Selma do the demonstration for the project and then go back to your seat to work on your project.

If you would like to join us on May 15 from 9 AM to 6 PM, please e-mail me right away as I am sure the 2nd room will fill up quickly too.   As usual, there will not be a charge for the workshop and everyone who can will bring a dish to pass for lunch. Please visit Selma's blog to see her beautiful work and then e-mail me if you would like to join us.

Thinking of You Card

Thursday, March 18, 2010
Isn't this a perfect card for a coffee drinking friend?  I colored the image in our Copic class and loved how well the colors blended with my new Crate Paper Pack.  In fact all of the DT paper on this card is from the Bliss Collection.

Did you notice the background of the stamp....Woo hoo....I sprayed it with my new Copic Air Brush System.  How fun was that?  I hope I get the chance to do some more creating with it today.

I started with Neenah Paper cut at 6 inches, used the Glue Glider to adhere the Bliss Crate Polka Dot Paper and rounded the corners with my Fiscars Corner Rounder.

The Lime Green Crate Paper was also cut from the Bliss Crate Paper Pack as well as the Pink Border paper.  Spellbinders Label 8 and Label 4 were used to cut out the image and the borders.

JustRite's Just A Note Thinking of You Sentiment was just what I needed and I distressed it by leaving it in the Peony Nestie.  I sponged it with Rangers Distressed Ink and my Jumbo DauberGreen Rhinestones added some balance and interest after I lifted one side up with 1 Therm O Web Dimensional and the other side had two Dimensionals on it because of the height difference.

I used Martha Stewarts Flora Vine punch to punch a 6 inch piece using the bright pink and the lime green from the Bliss Crate Paper Pack.  I added the green under the pink to pop out the accent color.
The canopy was popped up using the same dimensionals.  I spotted this wonderful ribbon at May Arts and it is perfect with this color wave in the Bliss Paper Pack.  I used the Bow Easy to tie the bow.

Wedding Card

My cousin's son, Johnny was married yesterday, so I made this card for them.  I wish the bow showed up in the picture as nice as it did IRL.  I wanted a very simple but elegant card for the couple so;  I used a 6x6 Neenah white card stock for my base.  I added some black card stock that I punched with SU ticket punch for a border.

The Groom's initial was stamped with the Special Occasion Font set and cut out with the Blossom Nestie.
It was added to a polka dot paper cut using #10 Labels (I have more  arriving this week hopefully).
A piece of black silk ribbon was glued to the back of the white card stock which had been dry embossed with the Victoria Cuttlebug Embossing folder.  Two lines were scored on each side of the black CS and then  four Kaiser pearls were added to each corner for added interest.
The Monogram and Labels 10 were popped up with Therm-O-Web Dimensionals.

Spring is almost here and it looks like it has arrived in Indiana.  We might be fooled and Old Man Winter might still come back,  but at least we know it's not for long.  My flowers are starting to peep out of the ground, crocus flowers are blooming and many things are coming alive.
I thought this week would be good to feature some flower punches (and stamps) from Martha
Stewart.  Please e-mail me if you would like to order any of the following items.

.

Craft Sheet
15"X18" is a reusable, non-stick multi-purpose craft sheet and offers a heat resistant, slick work surface for easy clean-up. Paint, glue and embossing powders peel off and inks can be easily wiped clean. The generous size makes a great work space.
 $17.99 each plus shipping

Pink Bone Folder
EK Success
$4.99 plus shipping

Foam Squares
by Therm-O-Web.  There are 440 adhesive squares which include 1/4 " squares and 1/2 inch squares. The squares are 1/8 inch thick and perfect for creating 3-Dimensional projects. One thing I love about them is the paper peels off easy.
$3.98 plus shipping.

Tack ’n Peel
is a reusable clear sheet designed to use with your unmounted rubber stamps. You can use it over and over again and it can be cleaned with clear lukewarm water.

The sheet is a 4x6.5 and will cover 1 large clear acrylic block or several small ones. You use it only on unmounted rubber stamps. I would recommend not using it on the clear acrylic as they might tear.

The Tack'n Peel does have a slight cushion to it, but I always recommend stamping on a piece of foam.
Trace and cut a sheet to fit a clear stamp block and you can use it on any of our unmounted rubber stamps.
When finished stamping, the Tack'n Peel blocks can be stored and used again. Make sure you put on the clear plastic to cover your block when you are finished.
$8.99 plus shipping.

Tim Holtz Clear Ruler

I love this ruler!!! It is especially nice for making even piercing and placing embellishments in the right place.

Clear acrylic ruler features a grid background for perfect placement, a center measuring guide, a straight edge for drawing lines, a metal edge for cutting and evenly spaced holes for paper piercing.
$6.99 plus shipping.

Scor-Tape
is an amazing product. It is a premium double sided adhesive, best on the market, acid free, heat resistant and incredibly sticky tape.   It can be used with embossing powders, foils, beads, glitter, ribbon etc. It is the perfect permanent adhesive for card making, boxes, books and Iris Folding.  I have it available in sizes 1/8" $3.50
1/4" $4.75
 1/2" $6.95
Plus shipping.

Please e-mail me if you would like to purchase the tape. Be sure to tell me which sizes you want to purchase and your mailing address, how you wish to pay.  I accept Visa, Master Card, Discover and PayPal.
