Joan's Gardens #4 Challenge

Wednesday, July 7, 2010
I have moved this to the top to make it easier for you to see the gorgeous cards that have been posted.  Remember you have until 6:00 AM Thursday morning to get your card entered in to the weekly Challenge.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!  Today I played Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA song.  It always brings tears to my eyes.  I will never forget the first time I heard the song.  I was in Chicago at a Convention and when we entered the auditorium this song was playing and a slide show of all the soldiers of the parents attending were on the screen.  Talk about a tear jerker.  It's another one of those days I will always remember.  If you would like to listen to Lee's song go here.  If you have a special story, I would love to hear it.

So, this helped me decide the #4 Challenge for this week.  Please make your card/project using a red, white and blue theme celebrating America's birthday and do something with an Embossing Folder such as a Cuttlebug.

You will have until next Thursday (July 8) morning 6:00 AM EST to link your card/project. A winner for the prize will be chosen from a Random drawing and will be announced Friday morning (July 9). You can enter more than once.

This winner of week #4 challenge will receive the 12 inch Butterfly# 20-00268 Cuttlebug Embossing Folder.

Below are the guidelines.
  1. You must have a blog or post to the SCS gallery.
  2. Post your challenge card to your blog.
  3. Or if you are posting to the SCS gallery, you will need to use a special code to tag your card to the challenge. This week's code is JG71 and needs to be posted with the challenge.
  4. Link your card/project to the Blue Inlinkz icon listed at the bottom of the challenge which I post on Thursday. Important, please have a direct link to your challenge card and not to your blog address.

Comments always appreciated!!

Love your challenge, Joan. I'm going to try and take part in this one. (I've been pre-occupied with my mom lately so didn't get many crafing moments in).

The first time I heard God Bless the USA was from Lee Greenwood himself. A couple of friends of mine went to a concert he took part in in the early '80s in Lake Placid, NY. The concert was in the arena where, just a year or two before, the USA hockey team beat the pants off the Russians. Let me tell you, when he started singing that song in that place, everyone in the place went crazy. We all got on our feet at the point where he sings "stand up" and there wasn't a dry eye in the place. It was awesome. He told us before he began singing the song that he just recently recorded it and was happy to introduce it in that arena. The impact of that song hit home after 9/11 - I think the terrorists hate that song; which is why we sould play and sing it more often. Anyway, thought I'd share that. Thanks for letting me ramble here. LOL

Amen to all the other comments about that wonderful song. I love it! The time I remember hearing it that really moved me was at the beginning of desert storm. They played it at a performance at my daughter's high school. The patriotism was so thick you could cut it with a knife. We need more of that.

I linked my card. Thanks for all you do Joan!

This is the first time I've participated in your challenge. I keep seeing gorgeous cards at Selma and Stampin' Pam's blogs and decided I had to give this a try. Besides I'm from Indiana. I do wish I lived near to you. I'd be in seventh heaven to have a LSS. Thanks for the fun challenge!
