A Card for Spring

Thursday, March 25, 2010
This was a fun card to do.  I love the bright colors from Cosmo Crickett's new Material Girl and I decided that my new My Little Lamb Stamp by Penny Johnson would be a perfect fit.

Using the Martha Stewart Score Board, the papers were cut at an angle, glued together and lace was added  to cover up the splices.

The 3 buttons are from the Garden Variety Button collection.  Cosmo Crickett did a great job using many of the same colors in the Garden Variety Collection as is in the Material Girl Collection.

Next the image was stamped using Memento Ink and colored with Copic Markers. I am testing some 120# weight of Super Fine Card Stock to see if I like it for using the Copics.  So far, I am extremely pleased and will possibly be carrying it in my store very soon.  One of the nice things about the 120# paper is it does not bleed through the back of your card and does not use near as much of the Copic ink.

I stamped another image on white Neenah paper (80#) and cut it out.  Using the Glue Glider Repositional Tape (it is only to reposition and will not hold a card together) I place it on top of my colored image and sprayed the background with my Copic pale blue marker using the Air Brush System.  It is hard to see, but I am just learning to use the airbrush and I didn't want it to get too dark and ruin my coloring.  I can tell that I am really going to enjoy this new "toy".

The image was cut out using the Spellbinders Label 13, edges were sponged to give a better contrast. I tried to fix a boo-boo and made a big mess, so that is why you see the cute little butterfly fluttering around.  Would you have known if I hadn't told you?  Or did you think I added it for interest????

A silk bow from May Arts was tied using the Bow Easy and attached with Aileen's Tacky Glue.  The image was popped using Therm-O-Web Dimensionals.

Oh Joan, this is SO cute. I love the image and the papers and embellishments are gorgeous. I would never have known the real reason why that butterfly was there. This is another stamp I am going to need to add to my collection.

This is all too cute. I am developing a real attachment to my Copic markers and I love to see all the images that are colored with them. I may become, like Grandma Moses, a real artist in my old age.

Goodness Joan! I have just recently purchased the very same placemants that yo9u show in your kitchen table photo! got them at Ross. They almost matche my dining and living room draperies. Also, if those plates are melamine, I had the one with the chicken until it fell and shattered. This is nice, that we ahsre the same taste in decor!
