Sign's of Fall

Friday, September 25, 2009

This card has all the signs of fall. Sharon's Friday Challenge is Rich Autumn Leaves on the card. I do not have a stamp or punch of a large leaf, so I chose to use JustRite's Autumn Blessing Indian Corn stamp as my focal point.

Copic colors I used

First I cut my 5.5x6.5 card from white cardstock and found a beautiful DP in the Graphic45
Renaissance Fair Paper Pad which had some leaves and a deep rich color. I love the vintage feel of those papers.

Next, I stamped the Indian Corn from the Autumn Blessing Stamp set by JustRite and colored it with my Copic Markers. I cut and embossed the stamped image using the Oval Spellbinder die.
After the image was completely dry, I stamped it with my VersaMark Pad and then I poured
clear embossing powder on top of it and used the heat gun to emboss it. I did this process 3 times. I wish I could have gotten a better picture because it is beautiful IRL. It looks like glass.
GinaK has a great video on how to do this process.

A piece of 4.5x4.5 cream cardstock was ran through the Cuttlebug's Victoria Embossing folder and the Fiscars rounded punch was used on the corners. Next I cut out a 4x4 green cardstock, punch the corners out with the Martha Stewart Corner Leaf punch and scored each side with my Scor-Pal to give it a little more interest. I popped up the stamped image with Therm-o-Web Dimensionals and attached it to the green cardstock.

A piece of silk ribbon was laid on top of the Graphic45 DP and attached underneath with the Glue Glider before gluing the DP to the white Cardstock. I used a small strand of the silk ribbon and tied the ribbon and then attached the bow with Aileens Tacky Glue. After the bow had dried, the DP was glue down with the Glue Glider.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Black and White - Inclinations

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

Black and white cards are some of my favorite and I knew when I ordered this stamp that I would love it.
I stamped the image and then spent some time figuring out which Nestie I wanted to use to cut it out. I tried adding some red for accent , but it took away from the classy look of the black and white.

I used the two largest Labels 2 Nesties to cut out the stamp and mat it in black. It needed some white contrast, so I cut white card stock slightly larger than the largest die and punched the corners with the SU ticket punch.

A strip of sheer polka dot ribbon was ran on top and then underneath the card stock. I attached it in the back with my Glue Glider. I glued the polka dot DP to a 6.5x5.5 white card stock and all of the layers we glued together with my GG. Therm-O-Web Dimensionals popped up the layers for added interest. The sheer bow was added for more interest. It is hard to see all the loops in this photo, but IRL it is very pretty.

I am a little late for Sharon's Friday Challenge, but I do believe this card is within her guidelines.

Joy in the Village

Sunday, September 20, 2009

This card was a "joy" to make. (no pun intended). I think by now you know I am in love with the new Graphic 45 papers called Christmas Past. I first cut out a 6.5x5.5 Neenah cardstock and attached the small plaid paper from Christmas Past.

Martha Stewart's new Joy Punch was used to punched out of the striped paper for the top border and I added a piece of red card stock under it for a more dramatic effect. Each corner of the red card stock was punched with SU's ticket punch. I bottom is from the new Martha Stewart Frosty Village Punch with added Flower Soft Polar White for a snow.

Using A Merry Little Christmas JustRite Stamp, I stamped the candles first, colored them with my Copics and sponged over that with some gold tone chalk. The Border was stamped and then cut out using the Circle Scallop Nesties. I felt it needed something vertical, so I cut some red cardstock using the Small Deckle die from Spellbinders.

Using the Christmas Past Paper Pad again, , I punched out the tag that is included with the paper pad, adhered it to the Labels 9 Nesties that I had cut out and ran through the Victoria Cuttlebug Embossing folder. All of this was popped up using Therm-o-Web dimensionals. A pretty bow was needed of course so I added it at the top.

Click on the image to see the details much better.

The items I used for todays card are listed for this week's sale.

Someone once told me that an envelope with a beautiful card inside should never be sent "naked". Since that time I always stamp something on the outside of my envelopes.

The envelopes are plain, but you can stamp anything on them you desire,.   Don't forget if you are coloring your envelopes to stick something inside so you don't ruin the back side of the envelope.

Please e-mail me if you would like to purchase some envelopes.

Baby Card and Bag

Saturday, September 19, 2009

Kelsey, my beautiful Granddaughter at her Baby Shower.

Today I drove to Michigan to attend my Grand Daughter's baby shower. What a great time I had and such a joy to visit with all of Kelsey's friends and other relatives. Her baby is due the first of November.
Several weeks ago, Carol brought to one of our card making days the cutest "Onesie" baby card. I loved her idea and put it in the back of my mind since I knew I would be making a card for Kelsey soon. Believe it or not, when I received Kelsey's invitation it was made out of a "Onesie". My idea grew from there.

Fortunately, I have the New Arrival cartridge for my Cricut and this "onesie" is included in it. There are templates you can down load, but this was much easier for me than cutting it out by hand.

First, I cut a 5 inch "onesie" out of Neenah white cardstock. Then I cut another one out of checked DP. I clipped the top and bottom so it could be added to the white card stock for color and contrast. I added a piece of silver cording on both pieces to give it a finished look, just like you would do if you were sewing it out of fabric. Buttons were added at the neckline and at the bottom. I cut out the cute giraffe from the same cartridge and another button was added for the eye.

I used the JustRite Fonts from Trompe Upper and Lower Case (30% off through the 24th) to spell out the baby's name and cut it out with my new Label 8 die from Spellbinders. Another one was cut with the next size larger out of the striped paper and then was give some dimension by using the Therm-o-Web dimensionals to attach it.

Martha Stewart's Loop punch for the corners and then attached the stripped paper with my Glue Glider and then to the Neenah white card stock. I glue a small giraffe to the inside of the card to made the outside.

Next I wanted to decorate the outside of the bag. The usual tissue and ribbons were used and then I cut out the baby's name (you read it right..Beckon) with my Cricut and ran it through the Victoria Embossing folder for texture. I cut the same giraffe about 8 inches high, ran it though the Cuttlebug twice to make sure it was embossed on both ends. A button was added for the eye (minus any thread of course). I ran everything through the Xryon tape machine to apply adhesive on the back and then all was attached to the bag.

Kelsey loved it all, so that is all that mattered to me!
See more pictures below.

Giraffe up close
Isn't she cute...and who would guess she is 8+ months pregnant.
She received so many nice things. What a pretty smile Kelsey!

I hope it isn't contagious...Kelsey's friends in this
picture are all pregnant!
Thanks for stopping by today.
