I wanted to let you all know that I haven't left the country or disappeared off of the face of the earth. My Internet has not been working for several days and the repairman just finished fixing it. I had a bad router, which of course I know nothing about! Do you know how lost I have been these last few days? I couldn't post, ship or do anything that I needed to do.
I will be posting the Monday sale a tad bit late this week, but I will get it done soon!
Thanks for your patience!!! Joan
Birthday Celebration! (pictures)
Wednesday, August 26, 2009 Labels: Family
I love birthdays, especially those that keep on going all week. Monday, my daughter Lori, Kara and Kelsey (granddaughters) and all the kids came down from Michigan to celebrate my birthday. Jon took a vacation day, Mom was here, as well as my friend Jean from Missouri. Lori prepared a wonderful lunch for us and brought it with her. The weather was beautiful and we all ate outside. A perfect day for sure!
Lori and her hubby are Foster Parents, so along with our 5 (soon to be 6) Great-Grandchildren we usually have between 9 and 11 kids under the age of 7 at every family function. What a blessing to us!

I invited 14 ladies to come to my place for a day of card making and scrap booking.
What a great time we had!!!
I invited 14 ladies to come to my place for a day of card making and scrap booking.
What a great time we had!!!
Rita flew in from Arizona, Jean flew in from Missouri and they spent the weekend with us. Barb drove from Grand Rapids, Michigan and the other gals are from northern Indiana. So, don't ever feel you can't attend our get togethers because you don't' live near me!
I had a make and take card for them to make and and cute little box which are both shown below. Some of the gals got to use "toys" they had never used before and seemed to really enjoy making their projects.
I gave demonstrations on some of the new products I carry in the shop. I was able to spend time one on one with many of the gals, which I truly love!
Each lady brought a dish to pass and I will tell you, we had some of the very best food I have eaten. Hopefully, I can share some of the recipes soon.
I am planning another get together for October 24, and I think there are two openings left.
Let me know if you would like to join us. First come first serve!

I stamped the flower from the Flower Gallery Stamp set by Penny Black twice and colored both of them with my Copic Markers. I cut, clipped and curled the top flower and attached them together with my Glue Glider. Flower Soft was added to the center of the flower for extra texture and dimension. (I love that stuff)
Using Therm-O-Web Dimensionals, I added the flowers to the Fleur De Lis Pendant from Spellbinders which had been attached to a piece of DP cut with the Spellbinders Lable One Nesties. The sentiment was stamped using JustRite Birthday Wishes (without the border) and cut out with the Dahlia Nestie.
I ran a piece of May Art's silk ribbon on top of the Madeline K&Company Paper which is cut 5.5x5.5 (shown in this weeks sale) and attached it to the same size of Neenah cream cardstock. It was finished off with a beautiful deep purple silk bow made with the Bow Easy.

Last year for Christmas, I dried several ferns and then I framed them. I stamped a nice sentiment on it and wrote a special letter to my daughter, granddaughters and Mom. They all told me it was the best gift they received. We all decided that this year we all are to make something from the heart. The idea I have had is to etch something for my "girls" this year. So, I needed to practice and I had this bottle that I thought would be a good starting point.

This is my first etching project and I hope you can see it. I used my Cricut to cut out the Dogwood Flower on Vinyl and then I followed this tutorial. It is a very easy and quick process, the etching is completed in 5 minutes.

Corn for 2009
Tuesday, August 11, 2009 Labels: Family Photos
It is that time of year again in Indiana. The corn is ready and this year Jon was home on vacation to help. Mom and I decided that he might change his mind about retiring when he
sees all the work we do during canning season. He also snapped beans one night.
Mom will be 95 in December and I am so very thankful that she is still able to help me.
Corn is a lot of work, but like my Dad used to say "it sure beats eating a snowball in the winter".
We froze 28 quarts and we want to do at least that much more this year.
We also do tomatoes, beets, beans, apple sauce, peaches, corn relish, zucchini relish, sweet and sour cabbage pickles and jellies. I am so grateful that my Mom taught me how to preserve food for the winter.
