Blush by Penny Black

I am so excited about this new line of stamps from Penny Black. First, I used my Marvey Water Color Markers to color the stamp, changing the shade slightly on each one. Then I cut each flower out .
Before attaching the flowers, I attached the DP to a 6x6 card stock, knowing I wasn't go to run a ribbon, etc under it. Zip Dry Glue was then used to adhere each flower and stem on to the DP. I added a dab of Flower Soft Glue on to the middle of each flower and then I sprinkled it with the Sunshine Yellow Flower soft. Wow, what a difference that makes, giving the flowers some dimension and life like appearance.
I stamped the Verve Verse that I just received and cut and embossed it with the Spellbinders Label 4 die. A beautiful silk bow from Sharon Johnson was tied using the Bow Easy and attached with a glue dot.

Penny Black Flying Stars

Saturday, June 27, 2009

I am excited about this new Penny Black stamp that I will be introducing on Monday's sale.
I thought it was a good choice for Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply Friday Challenge. We were to use blue and green for the colors and also do some paper piercing on it. You can read about it
here:

I stamped the Penny Black Flying Stars stamp on white card stock and colored it with my Copic markers. I have found the Versafine Ink tends to bleed if you do much blending, so I am anxiously awaiting my new Memento Ink that should be here Monday. It has been on back order for some time, so I am thrilled that it is finally coming.

After the Ink was dry, I turned it over and used my Elegant Ornare Stencil and pierced each corner. I love these corners because you can line up both sides to make sure it is even. It is so easy to do. (you do it from the back of the paper to get a nice look)

Then I used a piercing tool and added a dab of Flower Soft Glue on the Stigma of the flower. Then I lightly added some Delphinium Blue Flower soft for extra texture. Some sparkle was needed so I used my Gelly Roll pen to add just a dot on several of the ends of the flowers.

I used my Bow Easy to make my bow, added some bling with Kaiser Rhinestones and I was done.
Sorry for the blue cast (it is white card stock), but no matter how much I edied the photo, I could not elimate the blue cast.

Fantastic News

Wednesday, June 24, 2009
This pictures was taken before the stroke.

Melanie is coming home this Saturday. We are so thrilled and she is on cloud 9.
She was moved to Indianapolis last Saturday and they say she is ready to come home.
I didn't even have a chance to get her new address from her Mom and post it.
My brother and Mom stopped to see her today on their way back from
vacation, and they say she looks good and has made a lot of progress. She still has a long way to go, but she has certainly come a long way. Thank you again for all your prayers!!!
To God be the glory!

On a side note, my Internet has been down since 5 pm yesterday, so I wasn't able to ship anything today. All orders will go out tomorrow. I have been lost all day with out being able to get online. I am so thankful they got it working again.

Living Wreath and Spellbinder link

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

This is a picture of the living wreath that I do each summer for on my back porch. It has impatiens and Vina Vine in it. I do not enjoy making them, but once it is done I just love it.
It certainly is a nice way to great my guests.

I am getting questions about how I make the wreath, so I thought I would explain how I do it.

1. Purchase a wire wreath form that is concaved in the middle. Mine is about 20 inches round.
2. Soak spaghnum moss in water until saturated.
3. Use a good potting soil (I use Fertilome) and mix several handfuls of Osmocote Fertilizer (can get this at Lowes or any garden center or hardware. It is a time release fertilizer so it lasts all summer.
4. Lay a layer of the moss on the bottom, extending on each side of the wire rack about 3 inches.
5. Put a hand full of dirt mixture on top of moss
6. Flatten the impatien roots pretty flat and lay on top.
7. Wrap the moss around the plant and secure with greenery pens.
8. I used to then wrap with florist wire as I went, but in recent years I found a metal ribbon that I wrap around as I go. It is a bright pink and really adds to the wreath and secures it much better than the wire.
9. I also add about 3 Vinca Vines around to give it some texture.
10. Continue this process all around the wreath until filled with plants. I do rotate them as i go so they lay nicely.

I hope this makes sense and helps. Please don't hesitate to post any questions and I will be glad to try and answer them.

Be sure to check out Debbie Olson's cards today showing the new Spellbinder dies. She is so creative and the new Pendants die templates are fantastic. You might want to wait until we see them all before deciding which ones you want to preorder.

More Flowers

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

These flowers are just beautiful today...right at their peek!
I am told the purple is Globe Campanella, but I am
not sure and can't find anything on the Internet. Anyone????

Clematis. I quit counting at 100 buds. It is just loaded and breath taking!

A close up of the Clematis flower.

I wish you could come to sit with me by my pond today. Everything is so beautiful and the birds
are chirping such beautiful music. Mom and I were sitting out there Sunday evening and a Blue Bird landed on one of the Blue Bird houses. I so hope they come back. I just love them!!!
