Delight Yourself

Saturday, January 31, 2009

I needed a quick card and I personally love this style with the canopy at the top. It is not my original design, but one I saw over at Tammy's site.

My new heart Nesties are wonderful. I distressed this one slightly to give it a nostalgia feeling and put it on some heavy card board that I had saved. I use zip glue to attach the cardstock and card board per my friend Jerri's suggestion. She says it works great when you have a large area to cover and she was certainly right!

Jump on over to Sharon Johnson's blog and read all about her Friday challenge: Hint - Love is in the air! I think a pretty heart means love, don't you?

Sweetheart

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Sharon Johnson's challenge for last Friday was a "modern" card. Today is the first chance I have had to get a card made for the challenge. I am trying to catch up my bookwork so I can get our records to our tax accountant. Anyone else know the feeling??

When I created this card, I wanted something bright and cheerful and modern looking. Now some of you might not agree with me, but to me this sophisticated lady comes across that way to me. What are your thoughts on this?

Black and pink make such a striking card and just in time for Valentines Day.

Scalloped Heart dies by Spellbinders

Sunday, January 25, 2009

This Nestabilities die coordinates with the Classic Heart. These scalloped hearts, when cut, stack beautifully but do not nest completely in the packaging. If the hearts simply decreased in size the tiny center ones would be distorted. Use the plain shapes and scallops to create frames, mats, card windows, etc.
This set sells for $21.95 plus shipping. Please e-mail me if you would like to purchase this set.

RIBBON HOLDER

Look what I found! I love my new ribbon racks and I thought you might too!
Conveniently store and dispense ribbon, rickrack, twine and more. Racks stack and interlock to vertically add on additional storage. Features sliding lock to keep spools securely in place.

The racks are about 12 inches long, 6 inches wide and 6 inches tall. I love how the ribbon slips through the wire slot and unrolls. It is easy to keep the ribbons neat because of this too.

The price on these ribbon racks are great! They are packaged in packs of two for a total of 15.98 plus shipping.

I have no idea how many of you need ribbon storage, so I decided to take orders for these ribbon racks before placing my first order for them. I usually receive my orders from this supplier within a week. So, if you would like to preorder please
e-mail me and let me know how many sets of two you would like to purchase. I will place the order this coming Friday (January 29). You do not pay until I am ready to ship to you.

New Spellbinder Dies for 2009

Friday, January 23, 2009

Great news from Spellbinders! The above new dies are being introduced this weekend at the CHA show. I am taking preorders for any of the dies you will want to purchase. The dies won't be available until sometime this spring, but I have found the first ones who order are the first ones to receive the new products. Preorders are just to give me an idea on how many to order.
You won't pay for them until I ship them.

Spellbinders is also introducing their new new Die Carry Case and Wizard Carry Bag. Both are made to answer the demand from crafters for easy methods to store and transport the Wizard and Spellbinders die templates. They also have some more surprises that I will be posting right after midnight on the 25th, so don't miss them.

If you want to preorder any of these dies, please
e-mail me right away, as I will be sending in my order the first of the week. You can click on the picture to enlarge it for better viewing.

Love and Roses

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

I first started with a 5.5x5.5 card (just because I like working with this size), added a 5.25x5.25 piece of pink cardstock that I punched using SU ticket punch on the corners. Before I adhered it, I added a strip of pink satin ribbon and tucked it on the back. Then a 5x5 striped DP was added, again with the corners punched using the SU ticket punch. Next I dry embossed a piece of white card stock using the Argyle Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. I don't know if you can see it or not, but I lightly chalked the raised pieces to tie in the lime green colors. I punched out the bottom using Martha Stewart's lace punch and the corners were punched using the Fiscars Fancy Corner Punch.

I stamped the rose with Versafine Black and used the Marvey markers to water color it. Before doing that though, I added the word Love under the rose and touched just a corner of the rose to tie it all together.

I needed to add some of the lime green, so I cut out and embossed lime green cardstock using my circle scalloped dies and then added a circle of plain black circle for some pizazz. The rose is popped up with Thermo Web Dimensionals. I added just a simple lime green bow for more texture and to combine the colors.
The smallest black pearls were added on the corners and at each scallop for extra interest.

Pearls--------------Kaiser Black Pearls

Roses

Thursday, January 15, 2009

I needed a card to send to a special friend. You probably already know that I love pink cards. I think they are so bright and cheerful.

I started out with my basic 5.5x5.5 top folding card, added a piece of pink card stock to it that was 5.25x5.25 after I used the SU ticket punch on each corner. A piece of pink satin ribbon was then attached with Scor-Pal tape, running the ribbon under the pink card stock before attaching it to the white card.
I cut out the pink checked paper and used my Fiscars fancy corner punch on each corner. The roses were done with a two step process. And, for the 2nd rose all I did was stamp off for a faded effect. The roses were then cut and embossed using my Curved Rectangle dies. I used the same technique that I learned from Sharon Johnson as I did on the card shown below. This works so nicely when using the large die and you can't border it. The roses were attached to the pink checked paper with some dimensionals. I felt it needed a little bling, so I added the pink heart on the ribbon.
If you haven't taken a look at Sharon's blog today be sure and stop by to see her beautiful altered box. Also, don't miss Jerri's wonderful purse set she has been creating. I am just in awe at what these two gals do every time they post.

Birthday Card

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

I sent this birthday card to a very good friend of mine and I thought you might enjoy seeing it.
I started with a top folding 5.5x5.5 card. I cut a piece of the DP the same size and then cut a strip going the opposite way about 1 1/2 inches wide using the scalloped edge of the paper.

I then scored it with my Scor-It right along the top of one of the stripes allowing me to bend it up for a canopy effect. I stamp the flower image in black on cream colored card stock. It was cut and embossed with the Labels One Nesties. A trick I learned from Sharon Johnson was to sponge the image before taking it out of the die. This gives you a nice crisp border.

After attaching a black velvet ribbon to the striped paper, adhering the canopy, and using foam squares to pop up the image, I glued it all down on the card stock with my Glue Glider. I love the effect the dimensionals does to finish off a card.

It was time to add the sentiment. I stamped it and then cut and embossed it with the small Oval Nesties and cut out a black scalloped border with the Scalloped Oval Nestie. This too was attached using the foam squares.

Black Kaiser Pearls were added on top of the canopy, along with a black butterfly to give the card the needed embellishments.

Punch-----------------------Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch
Foam Squares--------------Therm O Web
Spellbinders---------------Oval Petite Nesties, Oval Petite Scallop Nesties, Labels 1 Nesties

Clear Boxes 7x5.1/2

Sunday, January 11, 2009

Last week when I ran out of these 7x5x1/2 Clear Boxes, I realized how many of you are just like me, needing a better way to store your stamps. I spent a large part of the day yesterday, organizing my stamps into these boxes. They are great, because even the largest stamps fit nicely in them. The largest percentage of the stamps will fit on just one side too, which allows you to tape the plastic image of the stamp on the opposite side. I used my handy dandy Glue glider to put a couple squares of adhesive on the plastic to hold it in place. My next step is to get them all labeled by name and company. I am using a Brother's labeler machine to label.

And, the Spellbinders Long Nesties fits into them as well. That is a big plus, because my Nesties that won't fit into CD cases were getting pretty disorganized.

I received my next shipment of these wonderful clear boxes late Friday afternoon, so I am again offering them for sale this week. Remember, these sell out quickly so don't delay!
5 for $18.95 plus shipping. Please e-mail me if you would like to purchase some of these great boxes. I will need your mailing address and your preferred method of payment. I accept Visa, Master Card and PayPal.

These are now available.

Kiss the Cook

I stamped the cook, colored her with Copic markers and cut her out. Then I stamped the cook again onto the polka dot background paper. I cut out just the apron so that I could paper piece it to match the background. I added several layers of papers and continued to use the pink check paper.

Thank you #3

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

This is my third easy thank you card. I used the blue polka dot and striped paper again, but I turned the stripe horizontally for a different effect. For extra interest I added a score line at the top of the white strip, along with 2 white pearls.

I embossed the Crafty Secret bird with Ranger fine silver embossing powder. You cannot tell it from the picture (it looks brown), but IRL it is beautiful. I then used my Circle Spellbinder die to cut and emboss it. The words Thank You were also stamped and embossed with the same powder. I think next time I will stamp the words and then cut them out with my Oval nestie on white paper. I will also pop the words up with a demensional.

Thank you #2

I love using polka dots and stripes together and I thought this was a perfect combination for this quick card. I have to start working on taxes now, so quick cards it will be for a while.

I CASED the card from Sharon Johnson at No Time To Stamp. Be sure and take a look at her cards. By the way, this link just takes you to the card I CASED. Once you have seen the cards, click on HOME and it will take you to her current cards.

I started with a 5.5 x 5.5 white top folding card stock. The stripe is cut at 2.5 inches and the polka dot is 3 inches. I cut a strip of the striped paper going the opposition direction at 1.5 inches and used my Martha Stewart punch on it.

I stamped the bird with Not Quite Navy and then used the Spellbinders Circle die to cut and emboss it. It is popped up with a dimensional for added interest. I also added a small navy pearl.

Thank You

Tuesday, January 6, 2009

I need to mail some thank you cards, so I have made some very easy cards that I will be posting the next couple of days. I also wanted to participate in Sharon's Friday challege. Be sure and take a look at her cards, they are so pretty!!!!

I started with a 5.5x5.5 top folding card, added the pink striped paper, along with the pink and black border. Because I am using the Glue Glider, this task was so easy. I love that thing! The thank you was stamped using the JustRite 10 Designer Centers and Borders Stamp and then accented in black with the Nesties Circle Scalloped die. Martha Stewart's butterfly punch finished my project. I popped up both the circle and the buterflies with some demensionals. Very quick and easy!

Clear Boxes 7x5x1/2

Sunday, January 4, 2009

I have been perplexed on how to store and organize all of my stamps. I liked the clear boxes and I tried using the 6 inch ones, but some of the larger stamps didn't fit very well. So, the search begin.......I wanted a 7x5x1/2 inch clear box that opened in them middle and laid flat, giving me 1/4 inch on each side.

I spent lots of time searching and finally found this exact box. I am thrilled, because now all my stamps fit nicely. I am even able to remove the stamps from the wooded blocks and add the EZ foam to make them usable withe clear acrylic blocks. Also, the long rectangle Nesties and other Spellbinders dies that won't fit in to the CD cases fit in this clear box. Yippee

The boxes are 5 boxes for $18.95 plus shipping. Please e-mail me if you would like to purchase
some of these clear boxes for your stamps or Nesties.

FACING THE GIANTS

My husband and I are not big sport fans, but our daughter said she thought we would like this movie. After a little nudging, Jon agreed to watch it.

Oh, my goodness, I cannot tell you what a blessing it was to us. If you or your family have not seen it, I highly recommend it to you. The life lessons in it are truly amazing. You will see how the power of prayer works!!!! We both were so touched and refreshed! In fact, we feel so strong about the movie that we purchased 4 of them last night to pass out to friends and family that we think would be encouraged by the movie.

This is the 2nd movie by this producer, the first one being Fly Wheel. We also purchased it last night and just finished watching it. It is also a wonderful movie. The acting and photography are not quite as good as in Facing the Giants, but the story is fantastic. We are anxiously awaiting the days (January 30) until their next movie Fire Proof is released on DVD. It has already been in the movie theather, but we like to watch DVD's at home where we can put our feet up and relax.

I just wanted to share this with you today, because both movies made a big impact to Jon and I! Let me know what you think.
