Christmas morning was always very early at our house when I was a little girl. My brother and I would wake up our parents about 2:00 AM to see the gifts that "Santa" had brought to our house. Of course, many
times Mom and Dad would have just gone to bed. I changed this when I got married and we started opening on Christmas Eve, because I didn't like being so tired all day on Christmas.
I have always been so excited about Christmas and I think I believed in Santa until I was in the 4th grade. I was so mad at the girl that told me about the real Santa.
Now, I am very thankful I know the real meaning of Christmas and that we celebrate the birth of our
Lord Jesus. Let us always remember "the reason for he season!!!!!
It seems Christmas gift giving has gotten so way out of control. Last year my daughter and
granddaughters decided we were making most of our gifts for each other this year . That is why
you have not seen me post any cards recently. I have been working night and day on my projects and yesterday I finally passed the half way mark. Therefore, I will not be posting a sale again this week.
After Christmas I will have pictures for you of my projects. You all are probably just as busy as I am with Christmas less than two weeks away. I love January and February because of the relax days before spring gardening starts. In 2010 I plan to get started on my Christmas gifts much earlier. We will see!!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by I hope you are enjoying this time of year as much as I am!!!!

What a wonderful scrapbook page Joan! Is it digital? I'm with you on the gift giving and the true meaning of Christmas! My parents and I recently attended the funeral of my dad's best friend. We discussed this very subject and agreed that we wanted handmade gifts, not "store" bought items for birthdays and Christmas. For my last birthday Mom gave me a beautiful plate that she painted years ago that I'll treasure forever.
You are so craft Joan!! This layout is wonderful and choked full of memories for you I'm sure!!
I agree with you on the gift giving but in my family the gift giving has slimmed down considerably!! In fact my Mom gets so frustrated trying to figure out what to give the Great Grandkids that last year she went through her jewelry (which she has a ton of) and gave the boys pocket watches that had been my Dad's (their great grandfather) and gave the girls some of her valued jewelry pieces. For my daughter & neice (her granddaughters) she gave her graduation ring and graduation bracklet ... they (including the younger ones) were THRILLED and will treasure them always!! That was the best gift they could have ever received ... Mom did good!! Giving of OURSELVES is better than ANY STORE BOUGHT item!!! Bless you for sharing this story!
Beautiful layout, Joan. I'd frame it, if I were you. I'm sure you'll be scrapbooking your mom's party, too. What great memories.

Joan: Beautiful layout. I am SO glad to hear that I was not the only late-believer.....I was 10 when I finally figured it out. We always spent Christmas with my godparents and the tree was brought by Santa and unseen until Christmas morning. It was always 10 ft or more high and lit with candles (they had George standing by with a bucket of sand and one of water) Christmas Eve afternoon I was hanging out in the kitchen hoping to con Lizzie out of some stray goody and thought I heard their dog barking. I began to open the back door and Lizzy cried" Oh no honey don't go out there!" too late....I found the tree, wrapped up and lying across the back porch floor. Needless to say I was crushed. My younger sister had stopped believing the year before unknown to me. Talk about naive.
Beautiful vintage picture and how lucky that you have it to show off. I agree that Christmas has become to comercialized and if all would celebrate the birth of our Lord it would be much more meaningful. I hope you have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful 2010. Hugs, Pat

Joan, You are a delight to me. I always feel like I've visited with a friend when I check in on your blog. Your warm heart always shines through the computer screen and makes me smile. I thank you for allowing me to see your decorations, family history and traditions, and mostly, your sweet faith. I will probably never meet you, but we will spend eternity praising God together. Have a precious Christmas with your lovely family. Blessings to you in 2010. Hugs, Sharon D. NJ
