Update on Melanie

Update from below:
Melanie had a special visitor tonight. Griffen stopped by to see mommy for a just a few minutes.....he has a very busy schedule...but he did find time to cuddle up in mommy's left arm. He brought some more of the pictures Jenny Hoke (jennyhokephotography.com) had taken of all three kids. Mommy kissed his head. Breathtaking! When he was bundled up in his car seat getting ready to leave..Tom put the car seat on Melanie's bed, and she reached for the car seat. Griffen promised he would be back to see mommy soon. He enjoyed sleeping curled up with mommy.
Andy (her Mom) cried..........God smiled!

Well, it comes as no surprise to us that know her...but Melanie passed the swallowing test. She can now begin to eat soft foods in small amounts. They named; pudding, mashed potatoes, pureed foods...but Jeni's (her sister) concern was that Melanie does not do instant mashed potatoes, and Jeni wasn't sure the hospital would peel and mash them the way Melanie likes them......so I guess those we will have to transport. Tom fed her chocolate pudding......she ate it all! Tom is making plans to take Griffen up to see mommy tonight. Not set in stone yet, but they are working on it...........mommy will be so surprised at how much her "beautiful baby boy" has grown.

On Saturday the plans were to take her to an intermediate rehab center the first of this week.
Now the doctors have decided she is making such good progress that she will go directly to a Rehab center and start rehab. Her right side is paralyzed and she can't speak yet, but with rehab and hard work on her part, we are very hopeful that this too shall pass.
Powerful prayer....positive words.....best medicine! Thank you!!!!

Joan, thanks so much for the great update on Melanie. Do me a faovr please - next time you start a post on Melanie, please try to use a word other than "passed", okay? You made my heart jump and scared the pants off me. I'm very VERY glad to hear about Melanie's progress.

Do you know I did the same thing as Gabriela and my heart jumped when I saw the word passed.

I am so happy to hear the good news and I think she will be so happy to have somewhat normal food that she won't care if the mashed potatoes are not perfect!!

Thank you for keeping us up to date. Hope she gets to see baby Griffin tonight.

What wonderful news! God is good!
So glad to hear that Mel is making
such progress. Makes me think of
Patricia Neal and her marvelous
recovery from stroke to resume her
acting career. Keeping one and all
in my continued prayers.

I am the same as Gabreila...I read passed and didn't want to go any further. Fantastic news. Mel may have a heavy load to carry during rehab but please tell her that love is still going her way from all your blogging pals. Thanks so much for keeping us up to date.
