Don't you just love it when an unexpected flower
appears in your garden? I did not plant these
Cosmos, they came up volunteer from seeds that
fell last year. They were not even
pretty last year, so I did not replant them.

The blossoms are so large and stunning. We have had
a very dry and somewhat cool summer, so I am
beginning to believe Cosmos like this kind of weather.
It seems I learn something new every year in my garden.
I think that is what makes it so enjoyable.

I am celebrating my 65th birthday today. It is
so hard to believe that I am that old! Where oh where
have the years gone? I love my birthdays and I am
always so greatful that I have another year to celebrate.

We are taking off around noon and going up through the
Amish Country. I love looking at their flowers and gardens
this time of year. Tonight we are eating at my favorite
Italian Restaurants. Happy Birthday to me!

I hope you had a fabulous birthday. This is the first time I visited your blog! You have some great ideas. I notice below your picture of your mom and the corn. Now that corn is in season... I've been thinking of freezing some. Do you just cut it off the cob and put in a freezer bag? Or are there other steps involved? Do you have to blanch it? I've always canned my veggies but I loved freezer corn better than canned. Thanks! You can email me at tolep8nt @
