My family was the first to purchase a TV in
our very small town. This layout shows some
of the wonderful programs we kids were able to watch
when we came home from school.

I feel sorry for the kids these days unless they
have more than local stations. At least in our area
all that is on are talk shows and not things kids

should be watching.

The journaling reads:
Our family was the first home in Teegarden to have a TV.
I can remember walking home from school the day it was
delivered and spotting the TV antenna on top of the house.
I was so excited I was ready to bust. Then, Linda, whom I
was walking with, busted my bubble. She said “you are
going to go to Hell now that you have this new TV. "
I was so upset and I had no idea what she was talking about.
But, it wasn’t too long until her family also had a TV. Guess
she changed her mind.

We were also the first in area with TV. Dad made it from a kit in 1950. One channel with a test pattern most of the time and late afternoon Howdy Doody Time. The whole neighborhood came to watch it.
Remember going downtown in the evening and looking in the appliance store window with the neighbors looking at the TVs. The store would keep the TVs on after they closed.
Thanks for the memories.
